Perdarahan fungsional

Perdarahan fungsional adalah perdarahan abdominal dari uterus yang terjadi di dalam dan di luar siklus haid tanpa berhubungan dengan faktor organik, merupakan kelainan poros hipotalamus – hipofisis.
Hal ini dapat terjadi pada setiap umur pada wanita yang dewasa yang tersering terdapat pada masa pubertas dan klimakterium. Nama lain metropathia haemorrhagica cystica atau folikel persistens. Pada masa pubertas dapat disebabkan oleh keterlambatan maturasi hipotalamus.

Schroder pada tahun 1915 menarik kesimpulan bahwa gangguan perdarahan ini terjadi karena persisten folikel yang tidak pecah sehingga tidak terjadi ovulasi dan pembentukan korpus lutheum. Akibatnya terjadi hiperplasi endometrium karena stimulasi esterogen terus-menerus. Pada penelitian menunjukkan pula bahwa perdarahan disfungsional ditemukan bersamaan dengan berbagai jenis endometrium yaitu endometrium atrofik, hiperplastik, proliferatik dan skretoris, dengan endometrium non skresi merupakan bagian terbesar. Pembagian endometrium skresi dan non skresi penting artinya dimana nanti akan digunakan untuk membedakan yang ovulatoar dan anovulator.
Klasifikasi ini penting dan punya nilai klinik karena kedua jenis perdarahan disfungsional memiliki dasar etiologi dan penanganan yang berbeda.

Alcock and Brown Embark on First Nonstop Transatlantic Flight (1919)

In 1918, the Daily Mail newspaper renewed its £10,000 prize for the first nonstop flight across the Atlantic.
